Everton have swooped to sign Portsmouth goalkeeper Sander Westerveld on an emergency loan.
The Toffees had been in the market for a new goalkeeper following injuries to first choice duo Nigel Martyn and Richard Wright.
The sending off of Iain Turner against Blackburn and the Scot's ensuing suspension focused Toffees' minds and they were recently granted special dispensation from The Football Association to sign a goalkeeper to cover their lengthy list of absentees.
Manager David Moyes has now raided Premiership rivals Pompey for their unsettled custodian Westerveld.
The former Dutch international goes straight into Everton's squad for Saturday's Premiership clash at Newcastle.
